Main Image

The main image used involves a straight angled medium shot of Dr Dre with his shadow soaring over him towards the left. This is done because his shadow represents Dr Dre’s darker past from the years ago when he was younger. Therefore it gives an idea that the content of the magazine is going to involve details not only his on current situation but also what occurred in the past.

Sub-Headings

All of the sub-headings within the magazine stand out due to the fact that they are in a bold white font, even though they are a lot smaller than other conventions within the contents page. However they easily grab the reader’s attention due to the fact that the contrast of the white to the grey background of the main image allows them to easily stand out. Furthermore the use of catchy titles which relate to the story in which they stand for also help attract the reader’s attention as it will draw them in and make them want to read further into the article.

Colour Scheme

A mysterious tone is immediately felt at a first look of this magazine due to the mixtures of colours which link in together in some way. For example with Dr Dre dressed in black with a large shadow towering above him upon the dark grey background and the black borders surrounding him a mysterious tone is instantly delivered. Additionally a sense of desire goes with the red used to tell the different parts of the contents page apart and easily navigate the reader. In addition to that the technique of using white text to overpower the dark is used as the white provides a pure and positive effect on the content within the magazine.

Layout

The layout of this contents page is very simple by the way that it separates the different types of content, this is done by the use of black borders to separate things such as the main story within the other sub-headings, the main image from the masthead and also any other additional features of the magazine shown at the bottom. This is done because it allows the reader to be easily navigated around the magazine as layout lets the reader easily view the different sections of content in which the magazine is providing.
