
Understanding of Type of Shot Used
Within the various range of music magazine front covers there are a range of camera shots used for the main image upon them. This range of shots usually includes examples such as a the typical medium or medium close up shot of a single artist or a long shot which would usually be used for a shot of a music group/group of artists. In addition to that the type of shot used for the main image also depends on the portrayal in which the artist wants to represent towards the audience. For example if an artist provides a serious insight into their life within his contribution to the magazine they will usually be shot with a medium close up shot specifically capturing his head. This will therefore allow for their serious facial expression to be easily seen due to the type of shot used.
However with the use of a medium shot it allows to reveal things more than just facial expression such as gestures, poses or even the person’s stance.
For example, Schoolboy Q has been framed here using a medium shot which captures a side view of him looking towards the camera. Also a standard angle has also been used to make sure that his facial expression is witnessed by the reader at their point of view. Furthermore a medium shot has been specifically used in order to capture the detail Schoolboy Q's facial expression and stance. This is important because the capturing of Schoolboy Q's facial expression and stance are able to provide the reader with the knowledge towards what type of content will be in the magazine.
