Main Image

The main image of this contents page involves a close up shot of the rapper Ice Cube. By using a close up shot The Source can easily show Ice Cube serious and angry facial expression, which can therefore demonstrate that his feature within the magazine involves a lot of serious subjects.

Sub-Headings

The bold white sub-headings within the contents page stand out very well as they contrast with the red background. Furthermore the use of bold white text for the sub-headings allows them to be scanned much more easily, therefore allowing easy navigation around the magazine.

Colour Scheme

The use of black for the background sets a mysterious tone for the magazine as the main image is shown to be if it is emerging from the shadows. This theme is also determined by the use of the colour red which is used to organise the page and allow the sub-headings to stand out. However the use of the colour red also portrays danger, therefore fitting in well with the mysterious tone in which the black background already gives off. Finally the bright white used for the sub-headings is used to deliberately stand out amongst the rest of the colours as white demonstrates peace and purity.

Layout

The layout of this contents page tends to be quite simple due to the fact that page is simply divided into two by a red border, the sub-headings are kept together on the right side and are placed under on another. The Source magazine logo is neatly tucked away in the bottom left hand corner which therefore allows the main image to be noticed more.
